The PBR Classic will feature some of the worlds best Riders as they go head to head against the worlds toughest Bulls. More than $40,000 will be up for grabs in the two bone crushing performances at the Richmond Coliseum. All money won will count towards qualification for the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas. We look forward to bringing the PBR to the Richmond Coliseum for two nights of unforgettable competition and family entertainment, says Glade Knight, owner of Slate River Ranch. Its thrilling to know that the worlds top riders will test their riding skills on some of the rankest bulls in the PBR, right here in Richmond! This non-profit event is sure to provide great excitement for fans of all ages. The GPSRR Classic is hosted by professional bull rider Greg Potter. An Australian, Greg is one of the veteran superstars of the PBR and sport of Bull Riding. He is part of an elite group with more than one million dollars ($1,000,000) in career earnings. It has been a great honor to represent Slate River Ranch since 2005, says Greg Potter. Over the years, I have great memories of competing in Richmond and our partners have really stepped up to make this event better every year. 2008 will feature the best athletes both cowboys and bulls in the world and non-stop action. Its gonna be quite a ride! Eighty (80) of the top PBR Riders will participate in GPSRR. On June 13th, the competition will kick off with forty (40) world class riders. Each rider will have the opportunity to show their skill on one bull. Based on score, the top ten (10) riders will advance to the Championship, Short-Go Round for a second ride on another bull. The Rider with the highest cumulative score will be the winner for that night. The next night, the competition will be in the same format, with an additional forty (40) PBR stars. The overall GPSRR Champion will be the rider with the highest cumulative score (on two bulls) after the two nights of competition. Both nights will feature Mutton Bustin during the intermission. Mutton Bustin is bull riding for kids, only instead of a bull, the kids ride sheep. This will be offered to children ages 5-7 years that weigh no more than 55 lbs. The child that can stay on the sheep the longest will receive a prize. No sheep will be hurt in this competition. Tickets for the PBR Classic go on-sale Saturday, April 5th. Prices range from $16 to $62 and will be available at the Richmond Coliseum box office as well as all Ticketmaster outlets including Regency Square Mall, Stony Point Fashion Park and participating Macys & Ukrops. Friday, June 13th, is family night. All kids under 12 will get in for a discounted price of $5. All of the proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista.
